HELP University and the Redberry Group will be organising the Run for National Unity 2017 on September 16, 2017 in conjunction with Malaysia Day. The inaugural RUN was a success in 2016 and this year, it receives the support of the Department for National Unity and Integration. The tag line for this year is #Cintainegaraku.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Kurup was the Guest of Honour at the Launch held in Redberry City.
“I witnessed many beautiful moments during the Run last year. I saw participants holding hands in the rain as they ran towards the finish line,” Kurup said at the event’s launch at Redberry City in June.
HELP University’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Datuk Dr Paul Chan said while last year’s run was a success he wished to see the involvement of more young participants as they are the nation’s future leaders.
The Run for National Unity 2017 will be flagged off at 7.30am on September 16 from Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur. The Run is being held not only to promote national unity and harmony but also to raise funds for deserving students to pursue their tertiary education. All nett proceeds from the Run will be channeled to a scholarship fund for these students from all races.
The Run will be divided into 13 categories, including Men and Women Open International (All Ages), covering a distance of 10km, Men and Women Open Malaysian (18 years – 39 years), covering 10km and Men and Women Open Veteran Malaysian (40 years and above, also covering 10km.

p style=”text-align: justify;”>The Primary School Boys and Girls Category (7 years-12 years) will cover 5km while Secondary School Boys and Girls Category (13- 17 years) will be 7km. There are further categories for corporate teams and also the physically challenged.
The fee for the men’s and women’s categories is RM 50 for walk-ins and RM 55 online. The fee for students is RM 30 (walk-ins), while groups and families of between three and five members will be charged between RM 130 and RM 180 for walk-ins and between RM 145 and RM 205 online. The physically challenged will only need to pay RM 10 and RM 15.
Participants may register in person at the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Amateur Association office (FTKLAA) on the second floor of the Olympic Council of Malaysia building in Jalan Hang Jebat or at HELP’s Student Affairs Department in Bukit Damansara.
All finishers will receive medals and certificates at the Finish Line. Besides getting a T-shirt and goodie bag, participants also stand to win attractive lucky draw prizes. There will also be plenty of entertainment and other activities at Padang Merbok after the Run, including stage performances.
