University of Derby at HELP

  • DOMS offer of special modules to enhance students’ intellectual and academic skills at the HELP Academy.
    1. Listening, Reading and Writing Skills
      Listening to lectures, reading academic texts and academic writing are integral parts of a university education. This course enhances students’ academic proficiency by enabling them to master listening, reading and writing skills as a prerequisite for achieving excellence in university studies.
    2. Reflective Practice
      This module enables students to reflect critically on their own learning in formal and informal settings – their perceptions, their values, decision making – so that they can make informed decisions about their own learning within an academic context, as well as about their career direction.
  • 10-Day Unique Global Exposure trip to Derby, UK
    Included in the 3+0 programmes is a 10- day trip to Derby for registered students. They will participate in academic activities and seminars, network with Derby students and faculty members and visit Derby’s industry partners like Rolls Royce.

  • We operate a modular teaching system
  • Each module is assessed over a period of one semester
  • Six (6) modules are taken in an academic year, normally three (3) in each semester
  • To complete a three (3) years Honours degree, a total of eighteen (18) modules must be completed
  • Assessment is by coursework, group and practical work, plus an examinations and a Level 3 independent study.

The intakes for UoD programmes are :

  • January
  • May
  • September

The UoD Programmes operates on a semester based calendar. Each semester consists of sixteen (16) weeks of lectures, tutorials, additional guided independent study, coursework and examination.

January and September semesters shall focus on UoD modules while the May semester shall only focus on MPU and DOMS compulsory subjects.

Applicant required one (1) of the following :

C6 in SPM English Note:
International students holding equivalent academic qualifications but without IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 or Credit in O-Level English, are required to sit for the HELP’s English Placement Test (Certificate of Attendance – Intensive English Programme) and achieve a pass at Level 6.
Credit in O-Level English
B6 in UEC English
TOEFL score of 550
IELTS score of 6.0
HELP’s English Level 6
  • 3 SPM / O-Level credits
    (Note : Students entering with UEC qualification are not included in this requirement)
  • and a pass in Bahasa Melayu at SPM (for Malaysian only)


The Business Management programme is accredited by Chartered Management Institute’s (CMI’s) where students will be enrolled as Affiliate Membership and receive an Advance Diploma in Management and Leadership.
