The BA (Hons) Business Management (CMI accredited) degree gives a wide-ranging introduction to all aspects of business, developing your knowledge and skills in areas from managing performance through to operating ethically. You will build your strategic skills, so you can spot and exploit business opportunities to the maximum potential. The course has been designed in close consultation with employers and professional bodies, so we are teaching exactly what industry requires, increasing your employability. The subjects you cover throughout this degree don’t exist in isolation – in business you’ll need to use elements of each in different situations – so you’ll combine everything you learn and apply it to various business simulations and case studies. For example, you could find yourself setting up a business, identifying your target market, advertising, preparing business plans and cash flows, and carrying out a feasibility study. This experience and practical application of your knowledge sets this degree apart, and prepares you fully for a successful management career.

How You Will Learn

In Year 1 the emphasis shall be mainly on learning the theories/concepts and their applications. In Year 2 the emphasis shall be on the use of the learnt theories in critically analysing the real world, country and company situations and developments, as well as, to explain and discuss the causes and effects relating to the situations and happenings. In Year 3, the emphasis shall be that the students are not only able to analyse critically but to think critically and suggest solutions to the problems and issues that are efficient, effective and, to a large extent, original. We use a wide range of teaching methods including formal lectures, problem-solving tutorials, seminar discussion groups, group and individual projects and directed reading. You’ll be assessed by a combination of continuous assessment and examinations.
