Kuala Lumpur – HELP University’s Faculty of Communication carried out a talk entitled, “Short Movie Making” on 17 June 2015, from 12.00pm to 2.00pm at HELP University, Kompleks Pejabat Damansara (KPD). This talk was carried out to encourage and promote interest of the local film industry among students, to expose students to the challenges in the film industry and to improve the students’ creativity and talent through the right channels within the industry.

Organized by the Creative Productions Society of HELP University, this talk was delivered by Datuk Paduka Shuhaimi Baba who has more than 20 years of experience in creating award winning films such as “Layar Lara”, “Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam” and “Waris Jari Hantu”. Winning awards such as Best Director for Foreign Film, Best Film and Best Director, Datuk Paduka Shuhaimi Baba is the best that there is in the Malaysian film industry.
From this talk, students were exposed to valuable insights of the local film industry and the reality and challenges of working in the industry. Datuk Paduka Shuhaimi Baba spoke about the challenges and obstacles she faced before being where she is today. She explained how students should improve their creativity and talent through the right channels within the industry. Overall, this talk was very educational and inspirational. Students enjoyed and learned a lot from this talk.
