KUALA LUMPUR, 14 July 2015 – HELP University is currently carrying out its 4th International Debate Competition for Chinese Secondary Schools (CSS). This International Debate Competition was initiated by HELP as HELP has been the leader in organizing English debates among Chinese schools, annually. This competition includes all states in Malaysia. The states are clustered into zones. Among the zones are: Perak Zone, Southern Zone, Central Zone, Northern Zone, East Malaysia and the overseas team which includes China.
HELP University held the preliminary round for the Central Zone on 11 July 2015, from 9.00am to 3.30pm at HELP University, ELM Business School. Among the schools that participated in this debate competition were: Chong Hwa Independent High School, Kuala Lumpur; Confucian Private Secondary School, Kuala Lumpur; Tsun Jin High School, Kuala Lumpur; Chung Hua High School, Seremban; Hin Hua High School, Klang; Kuen Cheng High School, Kuala Lumpur; Kwang Hua (P) High School, Klang and Pin Hwa High School, Klang.
This debate competition was carried out to encourage students to speak English; to bring about a higher proficiency of the language. This debate competition has managed to create learning situations in which students develop proficiencies based on sound educational and communication theories.
The preliminary round for East Malaysia and the overseas teams will be on 23 July 2015. This will be a very interesting round as East Malaysian teams will be going against teams from China. The winners will compete against winners from other zones at the finals which will be held on 25 July 2015 and 26 July 2015.
