The Department of IT at HELP University will be organizing two events on Wed 13 July 2016: The HELP TechDay; and Prize Giving Ceremony for the Inter School Ideas Challenge 2016.
The HELP TechDay is aimed at showcasing some of the mobile apps developed by our IT students e.g. Apps for CareerTesting, fall detection (making use of the accelerometer technology), Wedding Planner, CarPark Booking, Room Planner, Mobile Classroom Response, Accommodation Finder; internet of things (IoT) apps on the Raspberry Pi and Arduino e.g. an intelligent home lighting system and an android powered self-driving remote-controlled car; etc. Industry partners will be presenting interactive robots, computer games, mobile apps and wearable technologies. There will be two short workshops conducted by industry experts: The Groundwork in Developing Mobile Apps; and Big Data Analytics with SAS Visual Analytics.
Since the beginning of this year, HELP University has been conducting Ideation workshops to more than 1,500 secondary school children from 10 secondary schools to help them with their submissions for the Ideas Challenge 2016. HTC is sponsoring the 3 main prizes for this competition. There will be a presentation of the short-listed submissions in the morning, followed by a prize-giving ceremony in the afternoon.
