KUALA LUMPUR, 11 July 2015 – Students of HELP University took another leap forward as they conquered Mt. Rinjani, Indonesia. The students led by the Director of Student Affairs, Lt Cdr (R) Anthonysamy Silvarajoo made their journey on 8 July 2015 and started scaling the mountain on 9 July 2015. After a short rest at 2639mm; the site of the base camp, they started to climb towards the peak at 3 a.m. on 11 July 2015; where they marked their victory.
They celebrated the conquering of the peak at 6:30 a.m. with a beautiful view of the sunrise.
The journey back to the base camp was a smoother ride compared to the track up to the peak which proved to be really challenging.
Mt. Rinjani standing at 3726m is one of the highest mountains in Indonesia. The once exploded volcano has formed a crater which now houses a lake and also another volcano building up near the peak.
In preparations for this feat, the students scaled various mountains in Malaysia such as Stong, Nuang and Datuk. The preparations paid dividend as they proudly conquered Mt. Rinjani.
This victory was an addition to the many achievements of students at HELP. Last year the team conquered Mt. Fansipan, Vietnam. HELP will continue carrying out student activities like these to enhance the student experience at HELP.
