Meet HELP’s achiever, Lydia Charmaine Lourdes. She is currently under the Distinction Award doing the Bachelor in Communication (Media Studies) program at HELP University. Here is what she had to say about HELP University:
“Hello my name is Lydia Charmaine Lourdes; you can call me Lydia. Life has not been easy being raised by a single parent. My mother has not only been the breadwinner of the family; she has also been my role model. She works hard not only for me, but for my two siblings too. Watching how strong she was; raising three kids on her own has made me the strong person I am.
Being not able to afford pre-university, I did the “Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia” (STPM) examination and did really well. I was offered a full-scholarship in “Universiti Malaya” (UM) and “Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia” (UKM). I declined the offers as I had already made up my mind to study in HELP University. My brother, who was also studying at HELP University at that time, told me how amazing the lecturers and the facilities at the university were. When I met up with one of the friendly counsellors, Mr. Gregory, I was told that I would be eligible for the Distinction Award. It was really lovely to know that HELP University had that award for deserving students. I am now very proud to say that I am a HELP University student.
The course that I have chosen to do in HELP University is the Bachelor in Communication (Media Studies) course. I have always been interested in being a sportscaster or a television presenter. I do feel that HELP has designed its course to help students not only know the theoretical fundamentals of communication but also to understand the practical approach in the communication field, preparing students for the working world.
I have already learned so much in HELP University. Among my favorite subjects were, “Introduction to Mass Communication”, which was taught by one of my favorite lecturers, Ms. Asil Esaam Ghebllawi and “Public Speaking” which was taught by Dr. Lim Chooi Peng. The lecturers in HELP are not only experienced but also very approachable.
I have already learned so much in HELP University. I would definitely recommend HELP to everyone. I do believe that HELP University brings out the best in you. If you are looking for a university, college or institution with a strong culture of quality and leadership that focuses on sound academic standards, continuous improvement, and the talent development of students and staff, then HELP University is the right place for you.”
The programs in HELP are designed to give students nothing less than the best. For more information on courses offered in HELP, refer to http://www.help.edu.my/ or call +603-2716 2000.
