Crescendo and HELP Education Group enter joint venture to establish Crescendo-HELP International School in Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru, 18 August, 2016 — Crescendo Education Sdn Bhd and HELP Education Services Sdn Bhd signed a joint venture agreement today to establish the Crescendo-HELP International School in Johor Bahru, a ceremony graced by the presence of YAB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, the Menteri Besar of Johor.
The new Crescendo-HELP International School will begin its first intake in February 2017 at its new purpose-built campus which can accommodate 2,000 students, located strategically in Taman Desa Cemerlang, at the residential heart of Johor Bahru.
With their strong passion for education, the partnership between Crescendo and HELP Education Group promises to deliver a world-class international school to Johor Bahru at an affordable cost to families in this fast growing city, supporting the Johor Education Department’s mission – “To Develop Individual Potential through Quality Education”.
“This joint venture is built on our shared belief that quality education will help people achieve success and significance in their lives, and will play an important role in the development of our city, state and country,” said Datuk Dr Paul Chan, Co-Founder and Vice Chancellor of HELP University, part of the HELP Education Group, who is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, having established itself as one of the premier providers of tertiary and school education in the region. In 2014, HELP established its HELP International School in Kuala Lumpur which has become one of the fastest growing schools in Malaysia, with over 1,300 students and has achieved a 5-star rating from the Ministry of Education within its first two years. “Education is often the spark that ignites the economic, cultural, social, and even the moral renaissance of a community,” added Datuk Dr Paul Chan.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and staffed with highly qualified and experienced teachers both local and international, Crescendo-HELP International School will offer the British Education Curriculum culminating in the widely-recognised IGCSE qualification, which is accepted by the world’s best universities. Combining the best of Western and Eastern education, students will develop higher order thinking skills (HOTS), and will master a minimum of 4 languages: English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and either Spanish or French, which will enable them to work or conduct business in over 70% of the world’s countries.
“Our promise to deliver excellence in education to Johor is affirmed through this project,” declared Mr Gooi Seong Lim, Chairman and Managing Director of Crescendo Corporation Berhad, a Main Board Bursa-listed company that, for 25 years, has established a strong reputation in various industries including property development, construction, and education. “Students from Johor and wider Malaysia can now look forward to an experience on par with that offered in world-class educational institutions worldwide, available right here in our own backyard,” added Mr Gooi.
Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), commented that the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) which sets out the strategies for the holistic and sustainable development of Iskandar Malaysia, had identified the education sector as a key economic sector as well as a key enabler to supply the required talent for development. Therefore, the development of Iskandar Malaysia as education hub is not centred on a particular area but across the whole of Iskandar Malaysia.
“From an overall perspective, EduCity in Iskandar Puteri focuses on foreign renowned institutions and Bandar Seri Alam, City of Knowledge, in turn focuses on local private and public universities with newly established international schools. Moving ahead, we would need to ensure the sustainability of the education sector through increased enrolment of students, both local and international,” said Datuk Ismail.
The new international school, which will offer both primary and secondary school programmes, will be helmed by Mr Phillip Brisley MBE, a distinguished English educator with over 20 years of experience as a teacher and an additional 20 years of experience in school leadership, having served as a Principal in the UK, the Middle East and in Malaysia. “Our goal,” said Mr Brisley, “is to develop young graduates who display all-round excellence, leadership skills, self-discipline, the ability to think critically and independently, and who have a keen sense of commitment towards their families and communities.”
Families who seek more information on Crescendo-HELP International School are invited to call the school at 07-861 6788 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Special scholarships will be provided to all students who enroll for the inaugural February 2017 intake.
