HELP University’s (HU) HELP Dive Club is having its first diving trip to Pulau Tioman on the 27 – 29 June 2015. HU is extending this invitation to all HU students. There are limited spaces available so hurry and confirm now (details on bottom of page).
When interviewed, President and Founder of HELP Dive Club, Leong Weng Fai, 21 says that the main objective of this diving trip is to enhance responsibility among HU students.
“Diving is not all fun and games, diving require discipline, responsibility and enthusiasm. It is important to know that you are one with the water when you dive. You need to respect the water”. He also said that his other objectives were to raise the awareness for the endangered aquatic creatures as there will be talks on saving the endangered species’. Other objectives include learning how to swim and dive and communication as when one is under water, the only message one can decode, is one that is encoded via sign-language and hand movements. Without doubt, students will greatly benefit from this diving trip.
The main reason this trip is being carried out is because this is what the students want. “We have been carrying out many activities such as a “Gotong-royong” to raise enough money to fund a portion of this trip”, said Leong Weng Fai. “On that particular day, we are planning to dive as deep as possible, to plant a “HELP University” flag to show people that we are proud to be HU students and that we are all achievers”.
This trip will incorporate information learned in HU. One of the man goals of HELP Dive Club is raise the awareness of students in maritime exploration and hopefully this awareness will then lead to students who will become scientists’ or researchers that that will help save the planet from being extinct.
