Meet Alliyza Esther Lim Qin Shi. She is one of HELP’s top achievers and here is what she had to say about HELP University:
“Hi there! My name is Alliyza and I am currently pursuing my Honors year in the Flinders-HELP joint degree program under scholarship from HELP University. In December 2014, I successfully completed my Bachelor of Psychology degree and was awarded the President Award for the highest academic achievement in the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences. I chose this program because it is well known for being the most established psychology program in Malaysia, and HELP is also the first non-Australian university to be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), thus allowing me to further my studies in Australia upon the completion of my undergraduate degree.
The psychology program at HELP provides students with a solid foundation in the core disciplines of psychology; such as cognitive psychology, social psychology, and my personal favorite, research methods and statistics. It also allows students to explore a wide variety of areas, including forensic psychology, industrial psychology, psychopharmacology and the psychology of film, thereby giving students a taste of just how exciting and diverse the field of psychology really is. Despite having extensive knowledge and experience, the academic staff at the Department of Psychology are remarkably down to earth and approachable, while the helpful administrative staff are nothing short of amazing!
I’ve had the privilege of learning many things throughout the course of my degree, from comprehensive knowledge of psychological theories, to practical skills such as communication skills, leadership skills, and teamwork. However, I believe that I’ve gained so much more than what can be found in the pages of my textbooks or learnt within the four walls of a classroom. My experience in the Department of Psychology has taught me many valuable life lessons, such as to always be open to learning new skills, to be resourceful and take initiative, and to never give up; and overall, I believe this program has helped me grow toward becoming a person of character.
I would highly recommend HELP’s psychology program to students who are looking for more than just a degree, but are eager to learn, ready to be challenged, and excited to be pushed to discover their full potential.”
The programs in HELP are designed to give students nothing less than the best. For more information on courses offered in HELP, refer to http://www.help.edu.my/ or call +603-2716 2000.
