“Are you a jellyfish?”
“If I cut you, will you keep swimming? Will you regenerate?”
Have you had enough of this animal charade? Let us take a closer look to this jellyfish metaphor.
On the second Friday of each month, HELP University conducts a PULSE meeting for all HELP University staff. PULSE stands for, Platform for Understanding, Learning & Sharing Experience. These meetings are conducted to bring people in our organization closer to one-other.
Executive Vice President (Operations), HELP International Corporation Bhd, Henry Lim stated, “These meetings are carried out to form not an organization but an organism, an organism with different organs and systems that are working together to produce the same results.” Very wise words indeed. “I want you to be a jellyfish, if someone cuts you, grow from it; keep swimming and your tentacle will slowly regenerate and you will be stronger than ever”.
On 15 May 2015, HELP University conducted its second PULSE meeting with staff from the Customer Marketing Department (CMD). The topic was, “Do you want to be promoted?” A very simple question – most people would say, “Yes”. Here, HELP University staff discussed the method of reaching this goal.
In this small discussion, Henry Lim explained the collaborative team leadership model. He explained, “Patience is the most important asset in self-growth, it is ok to lose a few battles but win the war”.
“Replace yourself, get somebody else to sit in your seat, and you’ll be promoted”, said Henry Lim. Very powerful words. Most people are afraid that one would take their position in a company. Here henry explains that, that is not necessarily a bad thing. One learns through teaching. The more you teach, the more you learn and will be promoted.
These PULSE sessions have definitely been helping staff deal with everyday life scenarios. Let HELP University help you become an achiever; whether in university or at work. We strongly urge all staff to attend these monthly meetings for self-growth.
